A little about Me...
Greetings – I’m so happy you have landed here in my little corner of the inter-web.
I am a 2nd generation Herbalist, living in the unceded territory of the K’ómoks first nations, on the west coast of Canada.
My mission for the last 25 years has been to deepen connection with the natural world. My work is focused on re-claiming health and a sense of belonging on this ever changing planet.
My desire is to see right relationship with our planet become the filter by which human activity is done over the next 25 years. This, as we all know, means there is a need for some radical changes in the mindset of individuals, businesses and government.
In an attempt to be this change I want to see in the world, I create herbal products, and spend my time focused on education, philanthropy, and homesteading.
I wear many hats, some of them are:
– Co-founded Harmonic Arts – National Brand in Canada of Herbal Formulations
– Director and Course Creator at Wild Rose College of Herbal Medicine.
– Co-creator of the Canadian Herb Conference and Vancouver Island Herb Gathering
– Herbal Jedi YouTuber and Social Media personality.
– International Speaker, Keynotes and Workshops
And most importantly..
– Family man, Life Partner, Homesteader, and Land Stewart in K’ómoks First Nations Territory.
My core craft over the last 25 years has been herbalism, but I love to explore anything that aligns with supporting health and balance, both in the body and for our planet. I love digging deeper into the realms of such topics as: interspecies communication, seasonal alignment, intact wisdom traditions, holistic diagnostic tools, (extra)sensory perception, reality/bio-hacking, metaphysical mapping systems, and sacred geometry.
My Commitment and Why I am on the Plant Path
Many of us feel lost in a consumer-driven, nature-deprived society. I aspire to be part of the ever-growing, heart-centred movement that is foraging the path forward to be the change our hearts know is possible.
If there is one thing that I hope to communicate most importantly through this work, it is to question our own self limiting beliefs that are no longer serving us and move towards a more earth-centred to living outlives in flow with the natural rhythms/cycles/laws of the universe.
I know at every level of myself that when we are rooted in deep connection with our planet, we make better decisions as an individual and as a society moving forward. Although struggle and challenges will always be a part of life, the disconnection from our planet, our community, and ourselves does not have to be.
Some of the ideas I share will hopefully challenge your current belief systems, inspire new ways of thinking and ask of you to go deeper into what you already know to be true and in alignment with your way of showing up.
Of course as I like to say… “take it all with a grain of dulse”—you are your own wisest council, and if what I or anyone else shares with you does not ring true or feel right, it is up to you and only you to choose whether you take it or leave it.
A bit of my History
As a Child I was raised in the ways of Herbalism and Wholistic Philosophy (basically my parents were hippies..lol) During my formative years, I spent some time living in a tipi and around herb walks, sweat lodges and nature focused community. When it was time to go to school we moved into the city of Calgary Alberta, where I did the Waldorf education system and I learned many ways of creative expression and a depth of appreciation for the world. My father Dr. Terry Willard ran a busy herbal clinic, founded Wild Rose College and authored 13 books on herbal medicine. My mother Dorothy, managed Community Natural Foods (a large health food store in Calgary) for 10 years during my childhood. She had a deep drive to live an active adventurous outdoor lifestyle, and so me and my sister Aiyana found ourselves in the mountains most weekends and summer holidays whether we liked it or not.
When I look back to those years I am so very grateful for all the weird food, mountain adventures, alternative education and land based practices I received.
In 2005 I graduated from the Wild Rose Clinical Herbalist program. During my studies I met my life partner, Angela Willard, who is also a clinical herbalist and mother to 3 of my 4 beautiful children. I personally think she is part mermaid and part goddess, that I am lucky to have somehow wooed into co-creating such a wonderful and nourishing life with.
As a father of 4 (1 daughter and 3 boys), parenting has laid the grounds for the most joyous moments the impactful lessons of my life time. I am honoured to be raising these 4 creative and unique individuals that are fully present, self aware and surpassing me in every way possible
